Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions and concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate and estate administration as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 she assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters dealing with child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the realm of law as she was active as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce child support, custody, and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
