THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law including custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
