Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
